Loss

The idea for "Loss" came to me in the middle of the night after the loss of a dear friend and fellow artist. In the background are three ravens which are symbols of death. The faery, as tears stream down her face, reaches for the vapor that is the spirit of her friend or loved one who has passed. Another friend of mine compare grasping the intangible as "trying to catch a puff of smoke in your hand".  I like the visual concept of that. She also holds in her right hand a vile of ashes.

The painting is oil and silver leaf on canvas stretched over masonite and measures 24 in. x 18 in.
